The fact that our girls are not as attractive as the girls in the magazines doesn't mean we can't critique. We're comparing them to the beautiful women we see in other magazines, not to our own women. If you're used to seeing "9's" and "10's" in mags, you come to expect it. When you come across a "7" or "8", it really sticks out. My girl would never make it into a magazine (unless it's 'How to Make Me a Tasty Steak' magazine) because she might be a "5", but I'm still able to differentiate between an "8", "9", and "10".
